From Rick Houston, Township Trustee, concerning the current trash pick-up:

I have emailed the regional manager with Waste Management.  They will send trucks on Saturday, January 2nd, to collect all trash.  They will collect the containers starting on Saturday, January 2nd, and continue thru next week until all are collected.
After talking with Adkins Disposal, they will send a truck later Saturday, January 2nd or Monday, January 4th to pick up any additional trash that was not picked up by Waste Management.

Why the contract change?
Waste Management’s 5-year contract with the township was due to expire at the end of December.  The contract was put out to bid in September.  The bids were accepted in October.  Seven companies had placed a bid for the contract.  Adkins Disposal was the lowest bid, with Waste Management being the highest out of the 7.  The difference was almost $4.00 per month to start and escalated each year for the next 5 years.  By the end of the contract, it would have been just under $10.00 per month more to continue with Waste Management.
